I work with a lot of people looking to improve theirs fitness and lives in general.
A lot.
They come from different countries, have different circumstances and are at different
stages of their fitness.
I've coached some very successful people in their respective journey's, and coached some who couldn't get out of their own way.
Throughout, I've observed...
I've logged the traits of the successful and the tactics that
worked and I've tracked all the things that didn't.
With that in mind, I thought I'd pass along some of the things that cause people to struggle and stumble during their fitness journey.
Comparing Your Start To Someone Else's Success - Be
inspired by others. Learn from them. But don't compare your beginning to their victories.
Changing Course Constantly - Chasing shiny objects (programs with cool names) vs focusing on the fundamentals never allows you to become the best at anything. Consistency compounds.
Expecting Immediate Success - Success is earned in any pursuit, so expecting grand results from your first week of work, first nutrition program or any other effort is setting yourself up for misery.
Unrealistic Goals - If you're currently dealing with a back injury and you need to lose 50lbs.. that may not happen all at the sametime. Injury rehab, function and, posture may take precedent over losing the 50lbs. Set
attainable goals and stack up wins.
Not Focusing - Do fewer things better.
Thinking You Know It All - It's not what you know, it's
what you do...and you can't know if something works until it's been tested. Be open minded. Learn from others.
Not Persevering - Every success requires you to overcome challenges. No perseverance means no progress.
Success isn't easy, but it's not complicated. Hopefully these observations help you avoid your own struggles and
reach your goals.
