So let’s try this. You do not have to be happy all the time… But let’s not be negative. Let’s do our best to let that feeling past.
Hang out in the grey area for a while. I used to be big on getting out of the grey area. Being in that neutral area wasn’t acceptable. I thought it was as simple as, if you're not sad, just be happy. WRONG. I was so wrong.
Look around, things rarely, if ever go from going backwards (negative), to forwards (positive) without at least a brief moment in neutral. Think about your car. To go from drive to reverse, you pass through neutral. Run forwards to a line and as soon as you touch that line, go backwards. During that brief change in motion you will most definitely feel that moment in time where you are neutral.
Being in that neutral space is natural. You may have to accept expressing no emotion, on your way to positive emotions.
Can we be real for a minute? It is annoying as hell to have someone hit you with, "smile more" or "cheer up" when you're feeling really down. Especially during those moments when you think you look ok but you really don’t So let's try this a different way. Just stay away from negative thoughts and speech. Avoid at all costs. How does this affect my weight loss you ask? Every negative thought (fear based) your brain releases cortisol.

Be Happy. Maybe not 100% of the time, but let's shoot for the majority of the time. It will most certainly help you stay on track with yout weightloss success.
