TOP 3 SUPPLEMENTS FOR 2021
Starting August 18, 2021 I began taking my health and fitness 110% Blood work concluded that I was healthy, very healthy in medical terms. However I also realized I was running at a level far from my best.
After changing several aspects of my fitness routine I began to see great results. Before we talk about specifics we must understand this, it takes all aspects of good health and fitness routine to achieve optimal results. No one thing will help. With that being said, the addition of these 3 supplements have made a difference in my physique, cognitive function, anxiety levels, depth of sleep, daily energy, and
focus.
ZINC (Recommended brand: Optimum Nutrition)
What it is: Mineral
What it does: Promotes healing, tissue repair and muscle growth. Zinc also increases the effect of growth hormone and testosterone. Also aids in the production of testosterone
Biochemical Effects Zinc is necessary for immune function, protein synthesis, digestion, skin integrity, and cell growth
Supplementation of zinc has led to improvement in memory, comprehension, communication, and social interactions.
Zinc also helps to increase resistance to infection and tumor growth; when combined with vitamin A, zinc will help a suppressed immune system recover
Good Food Sources: Oysters, red meat, pork and chicken, wheat germ(toasted), spinach, and mushrooms.
Dosage Optimal range 15-30 mg/day;
VITAMIN D (Recommended brand: Optimum Nutrition)
Biochemical Effects
The main function of vitamin D, a fat soluble vitamin, is to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus by aiding in the absorption of calcium
In relation to fat loss, there are mixed scientific studies. However people on the ground using prescribing and using vitamin D have concluded that vitamin D has these direct benefits
Studies show that vitamin D could potentially reduce the formation of new fat cells in the body
It could also suppress the storage of fat cells, effectively reducing fat accumulation
Additionally, vitamin D can increase levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that affects everything from mood to sleep regulation
Serotonin may play a role in controlling your appetite and can increase satiety, reduce body weight and decrease calorie consumption
Finally, higher levels of vitamin D may be associated with higher levels of testosterone, which could trigger weight loss
My personal use of Vitamin D has produced the same results. Interesting fact, sun exposure just isn’t enough to fulfill your vitamin D requirements. The vast majority of people tested here in South Florida have come up with a vitamin D deficiency!
B VITAMINS/COMPLEX (Recommended brand: Nature Made)
*Water soluable vitamins such as B-complex vitamins and vitamin C are water-soluble. Meaning that are not stored in the body and must be replaced each regularly/daily
All of the Vitamins in a B complex provide value. I’m only listing vitamin B12 because this is where the magic happens. Great energy. It’s not a boost like you drink a red bull but a nice steady release of energy throughout the day and little to no mid afternoon crash.
Vitamin B12
What is it: Water Soluble
What it does: You need B12 to make red blood cells (which carry oxygen through your body), neurological function, and DNA synthesis.
Good Food Sources: Red meat, skim milk, and whole eggs.
Food Tip:Vitamin B12 is generally not present in plant food.
Important to the maintenance of the central nervous system and combating chronic fatigue.
The richest natural source is milk, followed by fish oils and fatty fish, such as sardines, tuna, pilchards, mackerel and herring Dosage Recommended intake is at least 1000-2000 IU/day for most adults.
